James J. Weidel PhD, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC


Dr. James J. Weidel PhD, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, received his PhD in Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.

He holds masters in family nurse practitioner from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC, and a post-masters certificate in psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. He is an active member in the American Nurses Association, the Psychiatric Nurses Association, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He serves on the finance committee for Nurses House, a non-profit organization, with a mission to help registered nurses in need. He holds an adjunct professor position at Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University.

James has worked with the pediatric and adult populations in residential and outpatient settings for over 20 years. James was raised in the Hudson Valley/Catskill region, and after some time away, has returned. His primary area of specialty is medication management and cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approaches in individuals with impulsivity and attention disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and autism.
